I am not saying, I’m going change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world.

On June 16, 1971, a revolutionary wasn’t just born—he was raised in the fire of resistance. Tupac Amaru Shakur, one of the most influential rap artists of all time, entered the world during a turbulent period in American history. But his story didn’t begin with fame—it began with Afeni Shakur, a fearless member of the Black Panther Party who was pregnant with Tupac while standing trial for conspiracy charges.

Afeni instilled in her son a deep sense of purpose, pride, and political awareness. She taught him that words could be weapons and truth could challenge power. That early foundation helped Tupac become more than a rapper—he became a voice for the voiceless.

His song “Wake Me When I’m Free” wasn’t just poetry—it was prophecy. Tupac’s music reflected the same values his mother stood for: justice, liberation, and love for the Black community.

On this day, we remember not just Tupac’s birthday, but the legacy he inherited—and the fearless Black woman who made it all possible.
